Multifunctional program for diagnosing HDD

HDDScan is a Windows utility created specifically to maintain, test and diagnose information media (Flash drives, RAID volumes or HDDs) to identify bad sectors on information media (Flash or HDD drives) so as to isolate bad sectors before any damage occurs.

Interact with and debug SMART-attributes and “technical indicators”, to regulate power consumption, start/stop spindles, adjust acoustic modes etc.). Supports synchronization through SCSI/ATA/SATA/IEE-1394/USB /FireWare interfaces as well as test drives through Butterfly’s “read random data” technology.

HDDScan functionality

Disadvantages

• It is impossible to interact with drives that use read only properties;
• when “isolating” BAD sectors, adjacent good sectors become inactive;
• SCSI virtual disks do not always respond adequately when put through tests;
• Unwise changes of SMART attributes could compromise information delivery systems and put at risk the continuity of communication networks.
