Overview for eMule

eMule was created by a team of programmers seeking an effective alternative to the popular eDokney2000 network for Windows clients – its original client. Their objective was to craft an advanced download manager with attractive interface features; instantly becoming popular, dislodging all competition in this market space for similar software and prompting numerous modifications across platforms (cross-platform mods included!). Based upon it have also come numerous modifications (known as mods).

A key difference between P2P clients such as this and others lies in its open source architecture, protecting users from intrusive advertising as well as malware infection risks on their computers.
